Formation of Political Committee to Study Affordable Health Care in Colorado

During the last legislative session in Colorado, the legislature voted to convene a commission on affordable health care. $500,000 was committed for the Commission's work, and Commission members were selected via political appointment as reviewed and approved by legislators, including Sen. Irene Aguilar, assistant majority leader and the author of the bill that created the Commission. Sen. Aguilar is also the chair of the Colorado State Senate's Health and Human Services Committee, and she maintains control of any plans to advance health reform through the legislature so long as the Democratic Party maintains control.
